I have a Degree in Biology (Universidad de Salamanca 2006), a Master Degree in Conservation of Plant Genetic Resources (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, 2010) and a PhD in Conservation of Natural Resources (Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, 2022).

My research mainly focus on the conservation of crop wild relatives, useful plant genetic resources that can be utilized for plant breeding, provinding tolerances and resistances to abiotic and biotic stresses to crops. I am particularly interested in the conservation of the genetic diversity and adaptations contained by crop wild relative populations, to make it accessible for prebreeding and breeding purposes, contributing in this way to food security.

Other research interests are related to local adaptation processes, phenotipyc plasticity and evolutive biology targeting these processes in plants. This work is developed with my colleagues in AdAptA Lab team (http://adapta-lab.com/en/home) and I also collaborate with Gypsevol Lab, both Labs with great reasearchers in Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

Furthermore, I am also part of the IUCN Specialist Group in Crop Wild Relatives and commited to the visibility and improvement of conditions for early career scientists, being part of the ECR Commission of the Spanish Association of Ecology.
